Our Youth Confirmation program follows the Dickinson ISD (DISD) school calendar and is designed for teens who have already been baptized and have received First Communion.
If your teen has not been baptized or has not yet received First Communion, they will be invited to begin their faith journey through the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) adapted for youth.
Confirmation preparation at Shrine is a two-year journey of faith that helps young people grow in a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, while strengthening their sense of belonging to the Church and our parish community.
Year 1 focuses on building a strong foundation in the Catholic faith through ongoing catechesis and formation.
Year 2 is the period of immediate preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation, with a special focus on the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the meaning of the sacrament.
Before entering the program, candidates should already be participating in regular faith formation, either through a Catholic school, parish faith formation program, or an approved home-based catechesis program.
As part of their preparation, all candidates are required to attend two retreats, which may include overnight retreats or in-house retreat experiences offered by the parish.
